2024 Club Championships Results

This week has been the culmination of each of the Club Championships. As previously reported, on Wednesday the Junior Championships concluded with Alison Muggeridge and Anthea Mackintosh prevailing over a healthy field of Junior Grades. We look forward to the Junior Championship field increasing in quality and quantity in the near future. Friday heralded the final session of both the Intermediate and Open Championships. Kevin Barnes and his partner finished as Intermediate Champions and Bill Crombie and John Mills retained their title in a hotly contested Open Field.

The end of the evening resulted in a solid win for Alison and Anthea with runners up Pauline and Christine. Mike and Linda were a very creditable third given that this is the first year of them competing. Well done to all.

Our new intake of beginners have started the 2024 lesson programme. We welcomed 14 new faces last night with at least 5 new registrants unable to join us due to illness and other factors. Introductions were made and friendships started. Of course there was some card playing involved too! The journey begins. Thanks to all the members of the club that came along and assisted. Fantastic to have that help. Lesson 2 next Thursday.

Cambridge Junior and Novice success

On Saturday 20th April a number of our members competed in the Cambridge Junior and Novice Pairs Tournament. And very successful they were. Colleen Black and Maureen Fitzgerald took out the Novice section with a marvellous 63%. Alison Muggeridge and Lorraine Blignaut excelled in the afternoon session of the Junior pairs with 68% to come away with first place. Well done to all who competed and flew the Te Awamutu flag. Apologies for the lack of a photo of the Junior Champs
