The TA Bridge Club Junior and Novice Tournament was held on Sunday 13th October. This is was the final leg of the Waikato Bays Region Junior League. 16 pairs entered. After a hotly contested two sessions the winners were Bob Le Quesne (in his third ever tournament) and David Gibb emerged victorious. Well done Bob and David. Session prizes were won by Pauline and Christine and Alison and Lorraine. Well done all. The League winners had been confirmed prior to the TA leg.

On Sunday 13th September Matamata held their Intermediate Pairs Tournament. 4 Pairs from Te Awamutu competed with Anne Doubling up as Scorer for the Tournament too. Good days were had by all with the following results: Anthea and Mike entered as a Junior Pair and were best Junior/Junior pair. Karen and Nick S were middling but took home a prize for best equal EW pair in the afternoon. Nick C and Sally were overall second with a very good morning (1st EW) and a reasonable afternoon (2nd NS) just beaten by a slightly more consistent pair. Anne and Lyn competed strongly and had a great day. A

On Saturday 31st August Tauranga Bridge Club held their Lower grades tournament, A total of 5 pairs from our club travelled over the Kaimais to compete. Wayne Froggatt and Karen Verhoef bravely entered their first tournament in the Novices. Prize winners in the Juniors were Anthea M and Mike J coming third and Alison M and Lorraine B coming 6th Chris M and Pauline VG also competed in the juniors section and Sally W and Nick S in the Intermediate Section. Well done all. Currently all 6 of the junior competitors are in the top 10 of the WB Junior League.

On Saturday 16th August the Te Awamutu leg of the Waikato Bays Intermediate League was held. There were 15 tables present playing two 26 board sessions. Pairs from Auckland and across the Waikato Bays area attended including one player from Hawera. The days play resulted in an outright win for Megan Jolley and Leanne Curry from Hamilton Club Second were Sabrina Peters and Nita Knight from Thames and third Graham Saunders and John Little from Waikato Club. Local success for Anne Williamson and Lyn Brennan who were first in the afternoon session for E/W. Pauline Van Groenedaal and Jocelyn Bail

This week the Mount Maunganui Bridge Club held their Novice, Junior and Intermediate Tournaments. TA had 4 pairs entered. Christine Mills with Pauline Van Groenedaal, Mike Joyes with Anthea MacKintosh and Alison Muggeridge with Lorraine Blignaut in the Junior sections and Karen Deane with Nick Saunders in the Intermediate Section. There was great success with Anthea and Mike coming second and Christine and Pauline coming third. Christine and Pauline won the morning session and Anthea and Mike came second in the morning. Well done team its great for the club and you personally.
