2024 Lesson have begun

Our new intake of beginners have started the 2024 lesson programme. We welcomed 14 new faces last night with at least 5 new registrants unable to join us due to illness and other factors. Introductions were made and friendships started. Of course there was some card playing involved too! The journey begins. Thanks to all the members of the club that came along and assisted. Fantastic to have that help. Lesson 2 next Thursday.

Cambridge Junior and Novice success

On Saturday 20th April a number of our members competed in the Cambridge Junior and Novice Pairs Tournament. And very successful they were. Colleen Black and Maureen Fitzgerald took out the Novice section with a marvellous 63%. Alison Muggeridge and Lorraine Blignaut excelled in the afternoon session of the Junior pairs with 68% to come away with first place. Well done to all who competed and flew the Te Awamutu flag. Apologies for the lack of a photo of the Junior Champs

Improver Lessons 1

On Thursday evening the first of the 2024 improver lessons was presented. 9 attendees refreshed themselves or learnt about Stayman over 1NT as an opening bid or an overcall and over 2 NT. The practice hands will be played again on Monday 11th. Next weeks lesson will be Leads, Signals and Discards.

Welcome to 2024 Bridge

This week we have started back to playing club sessions with a scramble for each of the sessions this week. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces at the club for a fantastic program of playing, developing and learning bridge. Not to mention the lovely socialising we all enjoy immensely.

Monday Night end of year

On Monday 4th December we had our last evening of Monday bridge and had a bit of a celebratory snack (bring a plate meant there was plenty of food). Some small prizes were distributed to worthy recipients (I.e. all the novices present). We look forward to kicking off Monday nights on 15th Jan. All are welcome.

BBO Tournaments Information

Details of the tournaments that are being hosted by various Waikato club members can be found on the Waikato Bays region's website https://www.waikatobays.bridge-club.org/.  The results are published there too in our usual format that is more user friendly than the BBO results table.

On our website I have added a link to the very useful BBO guide written by Karen Martelleti that is also on the Waikato Bays site.  You will find the link under the "About Us" menu item
